What Are Ladders?
Ladders provide a matchmaking experience to live events and provide attendees extra things to do after bracket rounds are complete.
- Players click a button on their phone to queue up and find a match
- Once a match is found, players are told which station to play on
- Players report their match, earn points, and queue again
- Players obtain different ranks based on points earned
Players gain or lose a star for each win or loss. In this example, “Prospect” has two obtainable stars. When a player has both stars in Prospect and wins once more, they will advance to “Rookie”. You can see this example in the image below:
Configuring Your Ladder
As a tournament organizer, you can freely set up your ladder settings yourself via Event Creation.
Once set up, go into the Admin and to the “Events” section, then click on “Bracket Setup”. Here, click on the “Bracket” section of your newly created event and edit the name, as well as changing your “Pool Type” to “Matchmaking”. You must have this set in order for your ladder to be set up properly!
Once this is set up, you can proceed with running your ladder! If you’d like a ladder tab to appear on your tournament’s public page, you’ll have to inquire with the smash.gg team. You may email us at email@example.com to set it up.
